Since our start in assistive technology, Zoomax has remained attentive to the voices of the\u00a0users. In recent months, the Snow Pad has been growing in popularity with students. We\u2019ve recently received enthusiastic feedback about the Snow Pad from students and those who support them\u2014parents, teachers, and more, inspiring us to keep improving and innovating.<\/p>

\"zoomax<\/a>Here are the true\u00a0experiences from\u00a0two students\u00a0using\u00a0Snow Pad. Their stories may help\u00a0families and schools\u00a0trying to find the right visual aid for students.<\/p>

What Does Snow Pad Feel Like for Students with Low Vision<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>

Snow Pad Through Laura<\/b><\/strong>\u2019<\/b><\/strong>s Eyes<\/b><\/strong><\/h3>

Laura is the mother of a visually impaired student. Her child has optic nerve atrophy caused by a genetic mutation, resulting in low vision.<\/p>

\u201cMy daughter\u00a0still has some vision, so she\u2019s able to attend school with sighted classmates. However, low vision\u00a0has brought challenges to her learning. I\u2019ve been looking for a visual aid for my child\u2019s study.\u201d<\/p>

Her daughter tried several handheld visual aids, but eventually realized they didn\u2019t quite meet all of her needs:<\/p>

\u201cShe needs a bigger screen, so it\u2019s easier for her to read,\u00a0and a magnifier with clearer image even when things are far away.\u201d<\/p>

A handheld magnifier is better suited for reading\u00a0closely. When her daughter looks at the whiteboard\u00a0through the device, slight hand movement makes the camera\u00a0difficult to maintain focus. In addition, it’s tiring to hold a magnifier for the whole class.<\/p>

\u201cMy daughter loves the device. Whether for near or distance\u00a0viewing, the image is crystal clear. Using the camera on the stand, she can clearly see both the\u00a0slides\u00a0and notes on the whiteboard. She uses near view mode to take notes, do homework, and draw.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cShe has always loved drawing. She says Snow Pad helps her trace fine details as well as see the full picture. She simply zooms in and out or pans the image on the connected tablet. Jack is a high school freshman with low vision. He has been using magnifier since elementary school. Now, with his school implementing a class rotation system, he found it inconvenient to carry a heavy magnifier between classrooms.<\/p>
